EXPERIENCE:
1982 - Present: Director of Aviation Pizza Hut, Inc.
Formed the Pizza Hut Flight Department in 1982 as its first Chief Pilot with the purchase of a Citation II. Set up all operations manuals, training requirements, scheduling programs, real-time budget tracking systems, maintenance tracking system, crew scheduling program, etc.
Assumed additional duties of Director Meetings and Travel in 1984. Set up our own in-house travel agency, generating annual net profits of over $150,000 by the second year on over $2MM in airline sales, car rentals, and hotel reservations. Managed the negotiations and planning for the thirteen annual Regional Manager's Conventions, Franchisee Conventions, plus numerous smaller meetings throughout the year.
Put the Citation VI into service in 1990 and the Challenger 601 into service in 1993 as our International business increased. Was responsible for the initial outfitting of the Citation VI and the refurbishment of the Challenger, along with numerous avionics upgrades.
Responsible for an operating budget of over $2MM plus a capital budget which at times exceeded $2MM/year. Have arguable had the most efficient operation among the flight departments, exceeding budgetary goals for the better part of 20 years while matching budgetary requirements to the culture and the customer's needs.
Planned and flew numerous trips to Europe and around the world to include the Soviet Union, Poland, Greece, Turkey, Niger, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Guam, India, Taiwan, New Zealand, Easter Island, and Central and South America.
Placed the Challenger on American Airline's Charter Certificate in 1994 to take advantage of excess flight time available. The Charter operation generated over $250,000 in profits in each of the two years we were on the charter certificate, offsetting the entire Challenger's operating expenses.
Successfully relocated the Pizza Hut Aviation Department from Wichita to Dallas and successfully transitioned the merger with the Frito-Lay flight department in 1995.
Reestablished the Pizza Hut flight department as Director of Aviation after the spin-off of Tricon Global Restaurants from PepsiCo in 1997.
Founded the Addison Aviation Business Association in 2001 and became its founding President. The Association is recognized by the NBAA and was formed to disseminate information and act on like interests of the users of the Addison Airport.
1979 - 1982: Cessna Aircraft Corporation - CITATION Demonstration Pilot
Demonstrated the Citation line of aircraft to executives and pilots as part of the sales team. Also responsible for flight testing new aircraft prior to customer delivery to ensure all systems operated correctly according to the manufacturer's specifications.
1980 – 1982: Flight Safety International - Part-time simulator instructor in Citation Aircraft
1969-1979: USAF. Instructor Pilot and Operational Pilot
NATO's Air Defense unit in Germany. Instructed pilots in all phases of tactical flying. Held numerous positions as Operations and Scheduling Officer, integrating the flight scheduling of 100 aircraft and the training requirements of several hundred pilots. Other duties included Flying Safety Officer, Squadron Flight Commander, and Intelligence Officer. Duty locations included Germany, South Korea, and the U.S.
1980-1994: Kansas Air National Guard - Instructor Pilot F-4/C-12J
Instructed National Guard and Regular Air Force pilots in all aspects of tactical flying, to include air-to-air combat, ground attack, air refueling, and standard instrument procedures. Retired in 1994 with the rank of Lt. Colonel.
